A surf resort is coming to Placer One

This week brings big plans for the land north of Roseville, a busy Saturday in Rocklin, and a few Halloween warm-ups for the little ones. TOP STORY A surf resort is officially coming to Placer One On September 24, the Placer County Planning Commission voted 5-0 to approve Alchemy Surf Resort, on a 32-acre site in Placer One just north of Roseville, north of the planned Placer One Boulevard and east of Foothills Boulevard North. The plans include a five-acre Wavegarden Cove surf lagoon, a 100-room hotel with a rooftop bar, 22 bungalows, and a two-story surf center with a cafe, restaurant and bar. There will also be beaches, hot tubs and cold plunges, a skate plaza, and an action sports building with trampolines, a foam pit and a climbing wall. The developer hopes to break ground in spring or summer 2027, with 18 to 24 months of construction. Alpine Climbing Adventure Fitness is putting up a gym of more than 30,000 square feet at 1730 Freedom Way, in the Freedom Point development next to Topgolf along Highway 65. Plans include more than 20,000 square feet of climbing walls, a 60-foot lead wall, a 15-meter speed wall, bouldering, a kids' Adventure Center with auto belays, a fitness area and a yoga studio. The foundation was poured in August, and the gym says it's coming in spring 2027. Crews will work weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. for about a month, and two lanes stay open in each direction, though they'll be narrowed and shifted as the work moves along.
